Joining a committee is a great way to maximize the benefits of your AFP membership, as well as a great way to network and get to know your fellow fundraisers. To learn more about the following committees, contact the committee chair or the chapter administrator ( or 419-764-4387).

Diversity Committee

AFP is committed to the principles of inclusion, diversity, equity and access (IDEA) in the fundraising profession, the philanthropic sector and throughout all of society. AFP is involved in numerous projects and partnerships related to IDEA. Locally, we strive to keep Diversity and the IDEA principles as a key component within the chapter and help members further it in their professional fundraising career. The Diversity Committee assists in this endeavor.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee assists in the recruiting and retention of members in the Chapter. It also works in conjunction with the scholarship committee to recruit potential qualifying members. If potential members/scholars need information, inform the Chapter Administrator.

Programs/Ethics Committee

The Program Committee identifies topics, speakers, and opportunities for educational programs for the benefit and professional development of AFP Northwest Ohio Chapter members. Educational program formats include but are not limited to monthly membership meetings; webinars; special meetings such as evening membership meetings; conferences, etc. Responsibilities also include scheduling program speakers and webinar sessions; working with the Chapter Ambassador, who will manage all facility arrangements for AFP meetings and programs; and coordinating with the PR and Media Committee to help promote programs.

Mentoring Committee

The Mentoring Program offered by AFP Northwest Ohio is a member-only benefit that provides individualized guidance and support to advance the skills of those newer to the profession, transitioning to a new area of the field, or looking for opportunities to grow in their fundraising career. For both mentors and mentees, this is an exceptional opportunity to share expertise, network with Scholarships.

National Philanthropy Day

The National Philanthropy Day Committee is in charge of planning and executing the region's annual celebration of philanthropy. The event allows the community to honor outstanding fund-raising efforts in the area in the month of November. Meetings begin monthly beginning in March. Committee responsibilities include the coordination of: nominations process; invitation and program print materials; marketing and public relations; menu and decor; registration; and more.

The Scholarship Committee assists the chairs in reviewing and scoring membership and Chamberlain scholarship applications. It also serves as ambassadors throughout the northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan area to promote the program and encourage qualified fundraising professionals and volunteers to apply for the scholarships.
